Vote for a Mayor on 17th July

On Thursday 17th July you can help preserve democracy by voting in your Plymouth referendum for a Mayor.

The referendum is happening and Plymouth will have a Mayor if Plymouth wants one. You just need to vote.

Why do we need a Mayor?

A Mayor will replace the current Leader of the council tudor evans, in a one-for-one swap, and be directly accountable to you.

A Mayor will be directly chosen by you, and listen to all voters because they want every vote... so power transfers back to you.

A Mayor will be a high-profile figurehead able to put Plymouth on the map, joining the other 27 Mayors in England.

A Mayor will provide much needed non-political leadership, unity and a vision to transform Plymouth.

A Mayor will save plymouth £250K every year, not cost Plymouth £1.5M - a made-up figure by tudor evans, the current leader trying to save his job.

A Mayor will improve services (social care, grass cut, potholes) as there will be more money with a bigger economy.

A Mayor will grow the economy by being a leader of place, putting Plymouth first... not like councillors, who put their political party first.

A Mayor will stop decades of councillor failure: no airport, ugly city centre, Armada Way disaster, worst potholes in England, unfinished Central Park ponds, selling Pounds House, £1 billion in debt (2027).

A Mayor will not replace the much cherished ceremonial Lord Mayor.

A Mayor can be directly removed by you if they don’t do a good job.
